The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, has explained why the State Police Command snubbed a directive by Governor Abba Yusuf to evict the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, from the Nasarawa mini palace.
On Thursday, Gumel was ordered to evict the deposed emir after the judgement delivered by Justice Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano.
Addressing journalists on Friday in Kano, the police commissioner described carrying out the governor’s order as synonymous with jumping the gun.

He said that the Kano State Government had filed a case at the state high court on the eviction order, which will be heard on Monday, June 24.
“The police will not evict Ado Bayero because the same government has filed a case at the state high court on the eviction order which would come up on Monday, June 24th,” he said.
“The government is like jumping the gun, if we carry out the order it is like we are pre-empting the court because we don’t know what will happen at the court.”
Meanwhile, security has been strengthened at the Nasarawa mini palace as the four major routes to the palace are being cordoned off by security operatives.
