Octa, KIR Foundation Undertake Charity Project In Celebration Of Ramadan

Octa, a global financial broker, teamed up with a humanitarian organisation called Keeping It Real (KIR) Foundation to implement a charity initiative and celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. The project consisted of three parts.

Providing 300 children with educational supplies

Nigeria is currently going through a harsh economic crisis. Some parents in economically challenged areas cannot afford the basic school fees for their children, let alone educational materials. Octa and KIR provided students with much-needed supplies, including writing materials, dictionaries, and school bags, to promote accessible education and drive social development.

Training 25 youths in tech skills

Octa and KIP organised training courses to empower unemployed or underemployed youth with tech skills, including data science, cybersecurity, digital marketing, and graphic design. A similar project was implemented in 2022 when 50 youths participated in the program. The project’s positive impact on their lives was significant, as most now actively use the acquired skills in their remote work, office jobs, or self-employed careers. Some of them even work as instructors and have improved their skills.

Establishing yet another reading corner

The Reading Corners are mini libraries set up in less-developed city areas or public primary schools to enable children to improve their literacy skills and develop a lifelong love for reading. Octa and KIR have set up 24 Reading Corners throughout 14 States and the capital of Nigeria, Abuja, reaching 9,209 children and donating 3,763 books. Over the years, this initiative has grown into an excellent annual tradition, with both partners gladly contributing to the betterment of education and social growth.

Bitebo Gogo, the volunteer executive director and chief servant of the Keeping It Real Foundation, expressed his thoughts on the interdisciplinary Ramadan charity project: ‘We are extremely grateful for Octa’s support of our beneficiaries and our mission of giving our recipients a brighter future through education, advocacy, capacity, and sustainable development’.
