Yuletide: Fubara Assures Residents Of Peace As Army Deploys 50,000 Soldiers Nationwide

Fubara gave the assurance on Tuesday at a Christmas Day Luncheon by the Nigerian Army at the 6 Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace and security in the state, especially this festive season.

Fubara gave the assurance on Tuesday at a Christmas Day Luncheon by the Nigerian Army at the 6 Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Army personnel of different ranks were cued up for a special buffet and were served by personalities like Fubara represented by his deputy Prof. Ngozi Ordu.

This is in appreciation for their service and sacrifice to the nation.

“This gesture is to appreciate all the Major Generals and all the Generals that had to serve or this number of soldiers that are here. We have taught them to be a servant boss,” the governor’s representative said.

The Rivers governor used the occasion to reassure of his commitment to collaborate with security forces to ensure adequate peace within the state while appreciating the troops for their sacrifice.

50,000 soldiers were deployed nationwide for the Christmas festivities, according to the Nigerian Army.

 

On his part, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, represented by the Commander Training and Doctrine Command of the Nigerian Army Major General Kelvin Aligbe, said the Nigerian Army Headquarters initiated several projects that will directly impact the lives of Nigerian soldiers.

“I convey this goodwill message to the Nigerian Army family within and outside the country with a sense of pride and appreciation to God. I congratulate you all for making it this far, ” he said.

The Chief of Army Staff also assured of adequate security measures during the Yuletide, especially at flashpoints.

“That over 50,000 of our colleagues will miss wishing their loved ones a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in person this season,” he said.

“This is not because they do not want to but they will be on duty across difficult-to-access towns, villages, and hamlets across the country and even beyond.”

At the event, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdusallam also noted that the Nigerian Army has continued to maintain best global practices in its operations.

He also vowed that the Nigerian Army would not relent until those who killed those four soldiers in Rivers State recently are apprehended.
