Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna has flagged off the construction of a Vocational and Technology Skills City aimed at bridging the vocational skills and human capital development gap in the state particularly among the youths.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the project at Igabi Local Government Area of the state, Governor Sani said the vocational centre will be replicated across the three senatorial districts in Kaduna State.
The governor believes it will prepare the youths for a rapidly changing world by equipping them with the right skills to make them employable, thereby curbing the high rate of unemployment and insecurity in Kaduna State.

“The establishment of the Kaduna State Vocational and Technology Skills City is therefore our administration’s response to the urgent need to reskill and upskill our citizens to handle technical and technological tasks in important and strategic business concerns,” he said Saturday.
“It is also to prepare Kaduna State youths for a rapidly changing world by equipping them with skills to make them employable.”
Governor Sani was accompanied by his deputy Hadiza Balarabe and other senior government officials to the centre which was initiated in partnership with the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion, Morocco, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Upon completion, the centre will offer practical training in different skills such as mechatronics, welding and fabrication, ICT, plumbing, and automobile engineering among other skills.
It is also expected to provide professional qualifications recognised by employers and technical and vocational education technology institutions.
