‘Monumental Disgrace’, Agbakoba Slams Bulkachuwa, Asks Tinubu To Act

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olisa Agbakoba has tackled Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa over his comment suggesting that his wife, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa extended help to some politicians during her time as President of the Court of Appeal.

Bulkachuwa, 83, who represented Bauchi North Senatorial District in the 9th Senate, had made the disclosure during Senate Valedictory Session on Saturday.

Zainab was President of the Appeal Court between April 2014 to March 2020.

Reacting, Agbakoba, in a statement by his Media Assistant, Niyi Odunmorayo, asked President Bola Tinubu to act and save the judiciary from collapse.

The senior lawyer also said the authorities should immediately take up the former lawmaker over his comment.

“Senator Bulkachuwa’s statement at the Valedictory of the 9th senate is a monumental disgrace for our institutions,” Agbakoba said.

“This man deserves to be taken up immediately by the authorities. It is a blight on my confidence in our systems.”

The statement added, “I represented Usman Tuggar in relation to disputed elections between him and Senator Bulkachuwa for Bauchi North senatorial. We lost in 3 courts. Senator Bulkachuwa seems to suggest why.

“It remains for president Tinubu to cleanse the system in a most dramatic and fundamental process if he wishes to succeed.

“The chairman of NDIC has also made dramatic revelations pointing to possible deep rot in our systems of Government responsible for financial and monetary policy.

“The President ought to act now!”
