One of the kidnapped passengers from the March 28 train attack in Kaduna state, has been reportedly shot by one of the terrorists guarding them.
There is no official statement on the development but a member of the negotiation committee with the terrorists, and spokesman of Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Tukur Mamu, gave the name of the victim as Mohammed Al”Amin.
Mamu said that the incident was a case of accidental discharge which happened on Monday during a friendly exchange of fire among the terrorists who are guarding the hostages inside the forest.
He said that the victim though still alive, is, however, in a critical condition and requires urgent medical attention.
A relative of one of the victims, Musa Ahmad told Channels Television that the conditions of all the 51 hostages are in bad shape due to ill health and poor environmental issues.
He also disclosed that the bandits have made some demands to the Federal Government including the release of ten of their members and an unspecified amount of money to be paid as ransom. He, however, appeals to the Federal Government to hasten the discussions with the terrorists with a view to getting the kidnapped passengers released.
