APC Is Paying Lip Service To Restructuring – PDP

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of paying lip service to the calls of Nigerians for restructuring.

PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, spoke about the issue on Tuesday when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily.

“We believe that the APC is merely paying a lip service to the issues they have brought out on true federalism and other issues bordering on restructuring of the nation,” he said.

According to Mr Ologbondiyan, media reports suggested that about 27 states perceived to be the stronghold of the APC have yet to make their returns on the proposed constitutional amendment.

He added, “The National Assembly is currently doing a constitutional amendment. As we speak now, they are expecting results from the various states.

“I saw a report in the newspaper this morning that said 27 states have yet to make their return to the National Assembly.

“During their voting in the Senate, what happened was that the PDP Senators were in the chamber waiting for the majority APC. And in the parliament, once a party has taken seat and the other party has yet to resume, and seating is about to begin, it then shows that the other party has gone for a pre-season meeting.”

Ologbondiyan is of the view that the delayed arrival of the APC lawmakers was a deliberate ploy to boycott the voting process on the devolution of power, which led to the rejection of the devolution of power.
