Manchester City thrashed European champions Real Madrid 4-1 in Los Angeles as defender Danilo made his debut against his former club.
After a goalless first half, Nicolas Otamendi, Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Brahim Diaz scored the goals to put Pep Guardiola’s team in charge against the Champions League winners.
Pep Guardiola was delighted by the way his team fought against Real Madrid and says the score line was secondary.
Said Pep: “The result is not so important but the way we fought for each other, that is.
“It is the pre-season, just like the last game against United where we lost but did good things.
“If we play in this intensity, that is our dream to be more stable and solid and of course Kyle Walker and Danilo and also Mendy will help us increase our intensity
“As I say, the result is not so important, but the way we fought for each other to play, that’s the most important thing.
“We need to build something, it’s just pre-season a friendly game.”
The boss also had praise for Kevin De Bruyne who created City’s first three goals during a faultless display of creativity and hard work.
Manchester club has spent almost £175m this summer – England international Kyle Walker (£45m), Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva (£43m), Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Moraes (£35m) and most recently defender Benjamin Mendy (£52m) having all joined Guardiola’s ranks.
