Babangida, Mark,Tinubu Condemn The Attack On The Emir Of Kano

Reactions have trailed Saturday’s attack on the convoy of the Emir of Kano with former military head of state, retired General Ibrahim Babangida, describing the attack as a “Wake-up call”. 

The senate president David Mark on his part described the attack on the Emir as a violent assault on the “Nation’s Traditional Institution”.

Former governor of Lagos state and leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu also condemned the attack, and described the incident as a “New low in the safety and security of Nigerians”.

Arewa Consultative Forum, (ACF) is shocked about the attack, and notes that “Violence can never address perceived grievances, however strong we feel about them”.

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) describes the attack as a “Sacrilegious assault on the respected traditional institution”.

The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) also condemned in ‘Strong’ terms the attack, the chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger state Muazu Aliyu in a statement noted with grave concern the attack on the convoy of the revered traditional ruler, saying it was an act of terrorism and the height of insecurity in the country.

Governor Aliyu explained that the attack was coming at a time when the nation was searching for a lasting solution to the security challenge that has claimed a lot of lives in the north.

He identified the attackers as faceless persons who are bent on instilling fear and creating a general state of apprehension across the country in order to attain their selfish motives.

He called on the federal government to brace up to the brazen activities of faceless persons across the country that is turning the country into a terror zone.
