The Information and Communications Minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili has fired her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mazi Obi Adindu over a defamatory write-up against Prof. Charles Soludo without her consent.

Mr. Julius Ogunro, her media assistant was not spared as she suspended her for using his e-mail to circulate the obnoxious write-up without clearance from her.

Akunyili, who described the release as “too demeaning” on her personality said she would never subscribed to such defamatory write-up at any point in time, irrespective of the level of provocation from Soludo that warranted to his response to the release.

“I have just returned from an official trip to China and my attention was drawn to an unauthorized write –up by Mazi Obi Adindu, my Senior Special Assistant, Media purported to be a response to some earlier defamatory statement by Professor Charles Soludo.

“The mild family misunderstanding with Soludo does not warrant the excessive language and substance of Mazi Adindu’s response. I unequivocally dissociate myself from it.

“I feel very embarrassed and saddened by this release issued by my SSA without permission from me. The release is too demeaning and I can’t talk about anybody in that manner no matter the level of provocation.

“I hereby relieved Mazi Obi Adindu of his duty and suspend Mr. Julius Ogunro, my media assistant, who used his e-mail to circulate this obnoxious write-up without clearance from me.

“My action which takes effect from this morning is an expression of my utter embarrassment at the response which I consider needlessly abusive, scurrilous, infradig and out of character with the values which I am championing in the “Nigerian public service. My public service culture is driven by an attitude of restraint and tolerance even in the face of the gravest provocation”.

Hope Dora is not trying to fool the public cos i believe that as an Information Minister she would have gone thru the National dailies online while she was in China and wasn't she the person that gave a report on the show biz that happened during the burial of her elder sister blaming Soludo for master minding the shameful act that took place without showing their last respect for the dead. Why is she decending on her loyalist the Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mazi Obi Adindu for denotating the second grenade when she dropped the first bomb. Instead of her to use her office to draw attention on the abnormalities surrounding Nigeria she is exchanging words as if she is market woman.
