An indigenous medical researcher, Dr. Hadiza Nuhu who invented an anti-malaria drug has pleaded with the Kano state Government to invest in her plans to establish a bio-tech company in Nigeria to produce the drug for the benefit of the nation.Dr. Hadiza Nuhu made the plea at a meeting with the Kano State Governor Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau at the state Government House in the ancient commercial city of Kano.
The erudite researcher told the Kano State Governor that she decided to approach the state government since she could not fund the highly capital intensive project.
"Your Excellency sir, after about 23 years of research, I was able to come up with this anti malaria drug. Its efficacy is beyond reproach. We have subjected it to several clinical tests and it came out positive. We are here to seek for your assistance to enable us establish a biotech company to manufacture the drug at cheaper rate to help less endowed Nigerian families ravaged by malaria." Nuhu said.
The Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau after listening to the plea of Dr. Hadiza Nuhu, says his administration would study the proposal with a view to providing the needed support for the take-off of the bio-tech company.
