Tribunal Reserves Judgment In HDP’s Petition Against Buhari’s Election

 

Hope Democratic Party (HDP) has closed its case against the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

The tribunal resumed hearing on Monday with HDP opening its case challenging the election of President Buhari by calling its first witness Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim who testified in support of the party’s claim

Counsel to the HDP, Eze Nnayelugo, called a witness who was said have been subpoenaed and later withdrew following his inability to interact and get his written deposition.

The court said petitioners have another two days each to respond to the respondents’ addresses if they so which.

It added that everything should be completed by July 27.

On the other hand, counsel to President Buhari,  Mr Yusuf Ali, said he would rely on the case of the HDP and apply for a date for the final address in the case.

The court accepted the position of the party and ordered the petitioners to file their final address within two days.

The case has been adjourned till August 5, 2019, for the parties to adopt their final addresses.
