A former senator who represented Kaduna Central senatorial district, Ahmed Aruwa, is dead.
Senator Aruwa died in the early hours of Sunday after a protracted sickness at a private hospital in the state capital.
He was later buried in the afternoon at Turaki Aliyu Cemetry in Unguwar Sarki, Kaduna after funeral prayers held at Sultan Bello Mosque led by a prominent cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
Among those who attended the funeral prayer were former Vice President Namadi Sambo, Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, as well as former governors Ahmed Makarfi and Ramalan Yero.

Late Aruwa represented Kaduna Central senatorial district in the upper legislative chamber between 1999 and 2007.
He was the founder of the defunct Ranchers Bees Football Club, Kaduna, which produced former Super Eagles stars like Daniel Amokachi and Dahiru Sadi among others.
Governor El-Rufai mourned the former lawmaker in a statement by his media aide, Mr Samuel Aruwan.
He described late Aruwa as a philanthropist who contributed immensely to the development of sports, agriculture and politics to the state and Nigeria during his lifetime.
